Text: Matt 4:1-11

1. God permits us to be tempted--for our benefit.

2. The enemy attacks at the weakest point--be ready.

Key verse:

There is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted above that you are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you
may be able to bear it. --1 Cor 10:13

3. The enemy seeks to create doubt about who we are--trust the Word.

Key verses:

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this
life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son has life; and he that does not
have the Son of God, does not have life.  These things have I written
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may
know that you have eternal life. . .  --1 John 5:11-13

Truly, truly, I say unto you he who believes on me has everlasting
life. --John 6:47

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ
Jesus. -- Rom 8:1

4. Knowing God is worth more than anything in the world--really.
